Allen Elishewitz, the acclaimed Canyon Lake, Texas, knifemaker designed the CRKT production version of his Anubis (the jackal-headed god of the underworld, according to ancient Egyptian mythology). The CRKT Anubis shows its lineage as an Elishewitz shape, with the benefits of advanced production technology.

The blade shape is uniquely Allens, with a pronounced drop point, long spine and a high hollow grind, resulting in strength and cutting power. For superior edge retention, CRKT use AUS 8 stainless steel in a non-reflective bead-blast finish. It is available in both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point Serrated edge grinds. A gold-plated Elishewitz logo is inset into the stainless steel blade in the manner of custom knives.

Teflon® and brass bearings at the blade pivot assure fast either-hand opening, using dual checkered thumb studs which also act as blade stops.

The button lock gives absolute steel-on-steel lockup, resulting in the strongest lock possible. We have added a version of the patented* AutoLAWKS automatic safety, giving maximum security against accidental closing. To fold the knife, you must pull back the safety lever and press the button at the same time, making accidental release during vigorous use just about impossible.

Allens design also features an unusual open build with a Zytel® spine back spacer that allows easy cleaning of the blade groove. Construction is stainless steel for the frame with injection-molded Zytel scales and an inset brushed stainless steel bolster at the butt. The handle perfectly fits the average adult hand. Dual reliefs at the finger choil aid grip, and make opening easier.

In ancient Egypt, the scarab beetle represented resurrection and renewal, and was depicted in art and jewelry as a talisman of good fortune. Allen Elishewitz is an acclaimed young Canyon Lake, Texas, knifemaker who offers a surprising range of custom knives, many with Egyptian-themed names.

CRKT set out to translate Allens custom into a slightly smaller, personal-size folder for carry convenience, and along the way, incorporated the patented features that have made CRKT folders so popular, including OutBurst assisted opening(1) and the LAWKS® safety(2).

The Scarab has a 3.25 blade and is 4.25 long when folded, dimensions that knife users tell CRKT are just about right for a personal carry. Weighing 4.9 ounces, it also has just the right heft.

The Scarab frame uses a stainless steel InterFrame build with one locking liner. Black textured Zytel® scales are inlaid with the latest tough and hard CPL composite, like that used in modern bowling balls, featuring blue/gray swirls. Each inlay has a unique pattern.

The blade is another one of those unique shapes that Allen is noted for. CRKT call it an Elishewitz drop/spear point, swedged and recurved. The blade is AUS 8 premium stainless steel in a bead-blast finish. Both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point Serrated edge grinds are available.

The Scarab comes standard with our patented OutBurst assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. If desired, the OutBurst mechanism can be removed to allow fast, conventional one-hand opening using the custom Elishewitz ramped thumb stud.

The Scarabs patented LAWKS® safety effectively converts your folder into a virtual fixed blade when actuated. Just slide the lever forward to lock, and slide it back to enable easy one-hand closing.
